TC Daily Pit Stop: Tyler Reddick Caps Off Incredible Last Lap Charge to Win at Homestead; Locks into Championship 4
TC Daily Pit Stop: Monday, October 28, 2024
Wow! Sunday’s race shows us why you never leave a race until the checkered flag actually flies!
Tyler Reddick Overcomes Tire Deficit for Flashy Homestead Win
Tyler Reddick was in the third position coming to the white flag in Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series Straight Talk Wireless 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway. The 23XI Racing driver somehow, someway, found a way to turn a lap nearly half a second faster than anyone else on track on the final lap of the race, despite having a couple of extra laps on his tires than anyone else in the field.
It was impressive as he knifed to the inside of Denny Hamlin in Turns 1 and 2 on the final lap to take the runner-up spot, but when he launched it, seemingly at full-speed in the high lane in Turns 3 and 4 and the car stuck, Reddick breezed right by Ryan Blaney for the race win.

Michael Jordan on Tyler Reddick Win: “Little Kid Drove His Ass Off”
Michael Jordan, as a six-time NBA Finals champion for the Chicago Bulls, knows a thing or two about heroic buzzer-beater performances in the Playoffs. On Sunday, his 23XI Racing driver Tyler Reddick authored one of the greatest come from behind wins on the final lap in NASCAR Cup Series history as he drove from third to first on the last lap of the race.
After the 6’6” Jordan picked up the 5’5” Reddick and delivered a bearhug, Jordan talked about Reddick’s win, where he expressed how proud he was of the driver.
"Little kid drove his ass off. I'm proud of him," Jordan said of Reddick in a jubilent interview on the NBC Sports broadcast.
As far as the move itself, Jordan explained, "Oh, man, he just let go. He just went for it and I'm glad. We needed it. We needed it."
