Conner Jones Suspended Following Incident with Matt Mills at Homestead
After NASCAR’s Brad Moran said on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio on Tuesday that NASCAR was looking into the incident from Saturday’s NASCAR Truck Series race involving Conner Jones and Matt Mills, NASCAR handed down a one-race suspension for Jones on Wednesday.
The crash on Saturday led to Mills remaining in a local area hospital for two days as he received treatment for smoke inhalation. Johnny Sauter (originally scheduled to drive the No. 16 Hattori entry) will pilot the No. 66 ThorSport truck in place of Jones this weekend at Martinsville.
In addition to the Jones suspension, NASCAR also issued a one-race suspension to Layne Riggs Front Row Motorsports crew chief Dylan Cappello for an unsecured ballast in the No. 38 truck at Homestead. Riggs, and the No. 38 team were also docked 10 championship driver and championship owner points.
