TC Daily Pit Stop: Joey Logano Recalls Being Kicked Out of Atlanta Motor Speedway as a Teenager
TC Daily Pit Stop: Tuesday, September 10, 2024
Before we get into today’s TC Daily Pit Stop, we have to ask… have you ever been kicked out of a race track? If so, you have something totally in common with two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion and Quaker State 400 at Atlanta race winner Joey Logano! Good job.
Joey Logano Recalls Being Kicked Out of Atlanta Motor Speedway as a Teenager
In his post-race press conference after scoring a win in Sunday’s Quaker State 400 at Atlanta Motor Speedway, Joey Logano spoke about his fond memories at the race track when he was younger. As Logano was working his way up the racing ladder, his family moved to Georgia from Connecticut, and actually had a condo at Atlanta Motor Speedway in addition to a home in Alpharetta.
Logano would go on to tell an incredible story about the time he was kicked out of the race track for showing up at the age of 14 with a full-fledged NASCAR Cup Series car from Jack Roush to test it out around the 1.54-mile track. The track assumed the 14-year-old was there to test out a legends car on the short track on the frontstretch.
He wasn’t. So, the track issued a speed limit for the young racer to run the NASCAR Cup car around the track. Guess what? He didn’t listen. Now, he’s a two-time Cup champion and he’s moving on to the Round of 12.
