Friday is almost here! It’s been a long week, but the weekend is just around the corner. Let’s put our heads down, grind out the last bit of work, and head into the weekend’s Cook Out Southern 500 at Darlington, where the Playoff field will be set!
CHRISTIE: Chevrolet Scrutiny of Retzlaff at Daytona an Overreaction
In just his second career NASCAR Cup Series start, Parker Retzlaff found himself in a position to win the Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona on an overtime finish restart. However, after he gave Harrison Burton a race-winning shove to push the No. 21 Ford Mustang past Kyle Busch, Retzlaff’s run fell apart and he ended up seventh.
What should have been a big story about how well he performed in his second career start, the driver is now having to deal with an angry manufacturer (Chevrolet) and talks about whether he should have found a way to help Kyle Busch win in the closing laps. Toby Christie feels the scrutiny of Retzlaff is a complete overreaction.

Yesterday’s Question: Where was the last NASCAR Cup Series International Event Held?
Correct Answer: Twin Ring Motegi (Japan) — While it wasn’t a points-paying event, NASCAR held an annual offseason exhibition event in Japan from 1996 to 1998. The first two years of the event were held at the legendary Suzuka Circuit road course, while the 1998 edition was run at the Twin Ring Motegi Superspeedway, an oval that resembled Darlington Raceway. Mike Skinner won that event over Jeff Gordon.
