TC Daily Pit Stop: Wednesday, October 16, 2024
Hendrick Motorsports decided late on Monday that the team will not appeal the disqualification in last Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series event at the ROVAL. This means Joey Logano is officially locked into the Round of 8 of the Playoffs.
Jeff Gordon: Hendrick Motorsports ‘Embarrassed’ by Alex Bowman ROVAL DQ
Despite swirling rumors about his future, and many people predicting a first-round exit from the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs, Alex Bowman went on an inspired run through the Round of 16 and Round of 12 of the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs, and before being DQed following post-race inspection at the ROVAL, it looked like the Playoffs afterthought would be one of the eight drivers remaining in the championship fight.
After Hendrick Motorsports scoured over the No. 48 car in the aftermath of the DQ to find anything that could have caused the car to fail for being too light in post-race inspection, they simply couldn't, and had to chalk the situation up to an embarrassing error.
"Pretty embarrassed by it, and pretty disappointing after what was looking like a historic day, and one of the most exciting days we've had," Jeff Gordon, the team Vice Chariman said on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
