Denny Hamlin Expresses Frustration with Charter Talks, Calls them “Stagnant”
It’s an absolute shame that we are going into the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs opener this weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway, and distracting from what should be a highly anticipated Round of 16, there is the looming distraction of a Charter Deal agreement still not being reached between NASCAR and the race teams.
At NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs Media Day, Denny Hamlin expressed frustration over the situation as he called the talks, “Stagnant,” and said that things likely won’t progress further until one side (NASCAR), “will have to wake up and be reasonable. That’s all.”
The two sides are at a stalemate over the system, which controls how television contract money and race purses are distributed as well as which teams are guaranteed entry into the race each weekend in the NASCAR Cup Series. Charters have also become a nice nest egg, which has helped fledgling team owners recoup a large chunk of their investment upon the exit of the sport.

Top Answer: 54% of you went with Tony Eury Sr. It was a good guess as Eury recorded 41 total wins as a crew chief in the NASCAR Xfinity Series over a 25-year career, but only seven of them came as a crew chief for JR Motorsports.
