TC Daily Pit Stop: Alex Bowman Disqualified at ROVAL; Round of 8 Field Set (Pending Potential Appeal)
TC Daily Pit Stop: Monday, October 14, 2024
Well, we expected drama on the track at the new Charlotte Motor Speedway ROVAL layout, but the biggest drama came off of the track…
Alex Bowman Disqualified; Knocked Out of NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs
Alex Bowman had advanced to the Round of 8 of the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs on Sunday afternoon with an 18th-place finish — until he didn’t. The driver of the No. 48 and his Hendrick Motorsports team were stunned when the team’s Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 failed to meet the minimum weight requirement in post-race inspection, which lead to NASCAR issuing the DQ.
With Bowman being DQed, he went from nine points above the Playoff cutline to 20 points below it. With Bowman exiting the Playoffs, Joey Logano elevated into the Round of 8.
As of now, the Playoff field is set for this weekend’s race at Las Vegas, but Hendrick Motorsports has an opportunity to appeal the ruling.

Kyle Larson Dominates Bank of America ROVAL 400 for Sixth Win of 2024
While the big story of the evening took place in post-race inspection, Kyle Larson dominated Sunday’s Bank of America ROVAL 400 to take his series-best sixth win of the season. The driver of the No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet led a race-high 62 laps, including the final 33 laps.
Larson continues to showcase that he has the speed to consistently wind back up in victory lane on any given weekend, something no other driver or team has been able to do so far. While Larson had already secured his place in the Round of 8 prior to the final Stage of Sunday’s race, the win cements his status as the favorite for the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series championship.
