Connor Zilisch Dominant in Watkins Glen NASCAR Xfinity Win, Suffers Broken Collarbone in Victory Lane Fall
Connor Zilisch continued to showcase why he’s potentially the hottest racing prospect to come along in a long, long time as he scored his sixth victory of the 2025 NASCAR Xfinity Series season in a dominant performance at Watkins Glen International.
While it wasn’t perfect, as he had contact with Shane van Gisbergen, which sent SVG crashing hard in Turn 6 with 20 laps to go following a lengthy and intense battle for the lead, Zilisch did everything in his power to control the race.
And after a hard-fought battle with Austin Hill, Zilisch emerged out front, and he cruised to a win by more than 2 seconds over Sam Mayer. However, as Zilisch was attempting to celebrate the win in victory lane, a scary moment ensued as Zilisch’s foot slipped off the door of the car, and the driver fell hard to the ground.
The 19-year-old was stretchered to the infield care center and later transported to a local hospital, where it was determined Zilisch had broken his collarbone in the fall.

Trackhouse Withdrawing No. 87 from Cup Race at Watkins Glen
Following the broken collarbone sustained by Connor Zilisch in victory lane after winning Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series Mission 200 at The Glen, Trackhouse Racing opted to withdraw its No. 87 NASCAR Cup Series entry, which Zilisch was slated to pilot in Sunday’s Go Bowling at The Glen.
Zilisch had qualified in the 25th position behind the wheel of the No. 87 Red Bull Chevrolet, and was set to make the fourth NASCAR Cup Series start of his career on Sunday. That will have to wait as the driver will begin recovering from his injury.

Ryan Blaney Captures Surprise Pole at Watkins Glen International
Ryan Blaney surprised many, including himself, by taking the pole position for Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series Go Bowling at The Glen as he topped road racing expert Shane van Gisbergen for the pole position in Saturday’s qualifying session.
Blaney had just one career top-10 start at Watkins Glen prior to the unexpected pole-winning run, and his best start at the track in the Next Gen era (2022 to present) was a 23rd-place start.
“Man, what a cool pole. I’m a pretty average road racer, honestly,” Blaney said in an interview with TruTV after he secured the pole position. “I work really hard to try to get better at it and try to figure out ways to be better. So, really proud of the whole [No.] 12 group, like you said, the dirty dozen. Fun day, just getting better and hopefully we’ve got — gotta find a little bit of race pace tomorrow, I thought. But it’s nice to have one-lap speed in it.”
