Persistent Mist Aids Zane Smith in Capturing Second-Straight Truck Series Win at Daytona

Zane Smith kicked off his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series championship defense with a win in the season-opening NextEra Energy 250 at Daytona International Speedway.
Smith won this exact event a year ago on his path to the championship.
It was a wild race on Friday night, which was halted numerous times by weather. In the end, Mother Nature won as the race was cut short after just 79 of the 100 scheduled laps. Smith was ahead of Tanner Gray and Christian Eckes when the rain came to end the race.

Jimmie Johnson Paces Opening Practice for 2023 Daytona 500

Jimmie Johnson was the fastest driver in opening practice for the Daytona 500. Yes, you read that correctly. Now, obviously, take practice speeds at a superspeedway with a grain of salt, but Johnson seems to genuinely be getting more and more comfortable with the NASCAR NextGen car.
Chase Elliott was the second-fastest in the practice session.

Connor Mosack Captures Pole for ARCA Season-Opener at Daytona

When Connor Mosack announced that he would be driving a part-time schedule for Joe Gibbs Racing in the ARCA Menards Series, you knew the young racer would have a shot to compete.
JGR has owned the ARCA ranks for the last several seasons, and Mosack picked up right where the organization last left off as he scored the pole for Saturday’s season-opening event at Daytona International Speedway.

After attempting to qualify for every single NASCAR Xfinity Series event last season, Jesse Iwuji Motorsports will not compete on a full-time basis in the series for 2023, Kyle Weatherman tells TobyChristie.com.
The organization, which made its Xfinity Series debut in last year’s season-opener at Daytona, primarily placed Weatherman and team co-owner Jesse Iwuji behind the wheel of the No. 34 Chevrolet Camaro in 2022.
