TC Daily Pit Stop: Ty Gibbs on Pole For Xfinity Race at Watkins Glen; Josh Berry to Run No. 42 at Daytona; Jesse Love Muscles Past Zillisch For ARCA Win; Hingorani Making Truck Debut at Milwaukee
TC Daily Pit Stop: Saturday, August 19th, 2023
As Ty Gibbs continues to attempt to work his way into a position to be a 2023 NASCAR Cup Series Playoff contender, the 20-year-old will get some extra track time Saturday at Watkins Glen International. Gibbs rocketed to the pole position for the NASCAR Xfinity Series Shriners Children’s 200 at The Glen, and he’ll start alongside Alex Bowman — another NASCAR Cup Series racer looking to work his way into Playoff contention.
Justin Allgaier, Cole Custer, and Sam Mayer will start from the top-five in the race.
LEGACY MOTOR CLUB has announced its interim driver for the organization’s No. 42 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 in next weekend’s Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona International Speedway. Josh Berry, who filled in for the team at Michigan International Speedway following the indefinite suspension of Noah Gragson, will once again pilot the car.
This will mark the first-ever NASCAR Cup Series start for Berry at Daytona. The 32-year-old will move to Stewart-Haas Racing to drive the No. 4 car in the NASCAR Cup Series next season.
Jesse Love just can’t be denied. Despite not feeling confident in his skills at Watkins Glen, the young Venturini Motorsports racer kept his head in the game all race long in Friday’s ARCA Menards Series General Tire 100 at The Glen. And after a late-race caution for rain, Love was able to come to life in a one-lap shootout for the win.
As Connor Zillisch, who had led the majority of the race, reached the final turn of the race, Love performed a bump and run, and went on to win the race. It’s Love’s EIGHTH win in 13 ARCA Menards Series races in 2023.
Hattori Racing Enterprises announced on Friday that they will have Sean Hingorani, a regular in the ARCA Menards Series ranks, in the No. 61 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro for his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series debut at the Milwaukee Mile next weekend.
Fidelity Capital will serve as the primary sponsor for the effort.
“I’m looking forward to joining Hattori Racing Enterprises in the No. 61 Fidelity Capital Toyota Tundra TRD Pro for the weekend in Milwaukee,” said Hingorani. “The No. 61 ran well at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park and we are going to try and build on that success.”
