Stewart-Haas Racing to Close Doors Following 2024 Season
In a joint statement released on Tuesday afternoon, Tony Stewart and Gene Haas, the co-owners of Stewart-Haas Racing confirmed what had long been speculated. The race team, which has been a fixture in the NASCAR Cup Series garage since the 2009 season, will be no more at season’s end.
“We have made the difficult decision to close Stewart-Haas Racing at the conclusion of the 2024 season. It is a decision that did not come easily, nor was it made quickly. Racing is a labor-intensive, humbling sport. It requires unwavering commitment and vast resources, with a 365-day mindset to be better than everyone else. It’s part of what makes success so rewarding,” The statement read.
The confirmation of the closing of SHR at season’s end means all four of the team’s NASCAR Cup Series drivers — Josh Berry, Noah Gragson, Chase Briscoe, and Ryan Preece — will now hit the free agency market together, and the hundreds of team employees will now attempt to find new employment for 2025 and beyond.
