Sheldon Creed Continues Strong Afternoon for JGR with Xfinity Pole at Michigan
After showing amazing pace in practice and qualifying on Friday, Joe Gibbs Racing appears to be the organization to beat in Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series event at Michigan International Speedway.
Sheldon Creed, piloting the No. 18 Friends of Jaclyn Foundation Toyota GR Supra, will lead the field to green in the Cabo Wabo 250 after posting a stunning qualifying lap of 41.917 seconds (171.645mph).
Riley Herbst, Taylor Gray, Cole Custer and Chandler Smith rounded out the top-five.

Dirt Late Model Hall of Famer Scott Bloomquist Killed in Plane Crash
Dirt track racing legend Scott Bloomquist was killed in a plane crash near his Mooresburg, Tennessee home Friday morning. The Rogersville (TN) Review reported Bloomquist’s passing, stating local authorities confirmed Bloomquist, “has been killed in a small aircraft crash near his home in the Mooresburg Community in Hawkins County.”
Bloomquist was inducted into the National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame in 2002, and is widely recognized as one of the most accomplished racers in the discipline.
His career highlights include eight wins in the Dirt Late Model Dream, four World 100 wins, six Show-Me 100 victories, and multiple championships across the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series, World of Outlaws Late Model Series, and Hav-A-Tampa Dirt Late Model Series.

Matt Gould Making NASCAR Truck Series Debut for Niece Motorsports at Milwaukee
The heritage of the Gould family within the Niece Motorsports operation is set to extend even further, as Matt Gould makes his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series debut at the Milwaukee Mile Speedway.
A second-generation driver from Mooresville, North Carolina, Gould will get behind the wheel of the No. 44 Niece Equipment Chevrolet Silverado for the August 25 event at the one-mile racetrack in West Allis, Wisconsin.
The 18-year-old racer is the son of current Niece Motorsports crew chief Phil Gould, who works alongside Ross Chastain, Kaden Honeycutt, Connor Mosack, and Johnny Sauter, by calling the shots on the No. 45 Chevrolet Silverado.

Zilisch Shines In Michigan, Wins The Henry Ford Health 200
After dodging some raindrops earlier in the day, it was the hot shoe of Connor Zilisch who managed to come home with the sunshine and the trophy in the Henry Ford Health 200 at Michigan International Speedway. In his five ARCA Menards Series starts, his worth finish is second. This win also marks four wins in a row for the 2024 ARCA Menards Series season.
“I’m just so grateful for having so many people surrounding me. Silver Hare Racing on the car they’ve done so much for me in my career. We’ve been firing on all cylinders lately and it just means so much to win here,” he said post-race.
Andres Perez finished second, with Tanner Gray, Jake Finch, and Kris Wright rounding out the top-five. Greg Van Alst, Jason Kitzmiller, Toni Breidinger, Christian Rose, and Amber Balcaen rounded out the top-10.

Brent Crews, Caden Kvapil Victorious in Dramatic CARS Tour Night at Ace Speedway
After another evening full of twists and turns on the zMAX CARS Tour, Brent Crews stood in victory lane as the winner of the Late Model Stock feature in the AcceleratedGFX.com 285 at Ace Speedway.
Crews and his No. 29 Kevin Harvick, Inc. entry did not even find the lead until seven laps remained in the 125-lap Late Model Stock race. However, that was all the time he needed out front, finishing ahead of Mini Tyrrell and Caden Kvapil for the victory.
Tyrell, Caden Kvapil, Brenden Queen, and Connor Hall rounded out the top-five.
