In his 23rd career start, Gio Ruggiero took his first career NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series win with help on the final restart of the race from TRICON Garage teammate Corey Heim, who pushed him past Spire Motorsports teammates Corey LaJoie and Rajah Caruth, and stuck with him across the finish line.

While the 2.66-mile superspeedway has awarded some “fluke” victories in the past, Friday’s win by Ruggiero was anything but that, as the 19-year-old put his First Auto Group-sponsored machine on the pole, led a race-high 37 laps, and put himself in position to fight off the pack to cross the start-finish line first.

Ty Majeski overcame front-end damage sustained on Lap 4 to finish third, while Dawson Sutton and Layne Riggs rounded out the top-five finishers.

Truck Series Playoff Drivers Involved in Early Wrecks at Talladega

A pair of crashes in the opening 10 laps of Friday’s NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Talladega Superspeedway led to several Playoff contenders seeing their days impacted. While Ty Majeski, and Layne Riggs rallied to top-five finishes, Grant Enfinger came home with a last-place finish.
