How Accurate Are Lionel’s NASCAR Diecasts? RFK Racing Put Them to the Test
In a recent video shared to the RFK Racing social media channels, the team’s Varun Patel had one question in mind; how accurate are the bodies on Lionel Racing’s NASCAR diecasts?
Patel set out to answer the question, and after doing a 3D scan of the car with RFK Racing’s FARO Arm scanner, he was able to compare the 1:24 scale Ford Mustang Dark Horse diecast to the real-world Ford Mustang Dark Horse Next Gen car.
The end result? Well, it may surprise you.

Gray Gaulding Cleared of April Misdemeanor Crime of Domestic Violence Charge
Part-time NASCAR Xfinity Series racer Gray Gaulding was taken into custody by the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office on April 2 on a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence charge.
On July 25, Gaulding saw the charge dismissed by the Mecklenburg County District Attorney’s Office. On Monday, Gaulding’s PR team took to social media to release a statement, where they called the result, “a just outcome to an unjust situation.”
”Gray Gaulding’s misdemeanor charge was dismissed by the Mecklenburg County District Attorney’s Office on July 25th, 2024,” the statement read. “Although we expected this case to be dismissed once all the facts came to light, it is a relief for Gray after months of uncertainty. We appreciate the public withholding judgment until we could resolve the issue. This was a just outcome to an unjust situation.”

Tempers Boil Between Huffman, Grady, Lapcevich Crew in CARS Tour Event at Hickory
Boy, oh, boy. NASCAR may be out of action due to the Olympic break, but the CARS Tour delivered plenty of drama in Saturday night’s Late Model Stock event at Hickory Motor Speedway.
The winner, Ronnie Bassett Jr., inherited his first career win after Ryan Millington turned Connor Hall for the win on the final lap, which led CARS Tour officials to DQ Millington from the win.
Earlier in the race, Andrew Grady was squeezed into the outside wall off of Turn 2, which caused him to slow in front of Landon Huffman, who made contact with Grady to send him crashing into the inside wall.
After the crash, Grady called Huffman a hack, and vowed to have words with Huffman before the end of the night.
That didn’t happen as he opted instead to throw dirt inside Huffman’s window as Huffman was coming down pit road at the end of the race. This prompted CARS Tour founder Jack McNelly to attempt to escort Grady to the hauler. Grady, according to Treyten Lapcevich, shoved McNelly to the ground, which caused Lapcevich’s team to spring into action, and they began brawling with Grady’s team.
After that scuffle, Huffman was confronted by Carson Kvapil’s crew chief Bryan Shaffer about the incident with Grady, as Kvapil suffered damage in that crash. After the shouting match, Huffman detailed his thoughts about Grady.
“I mean the dude tried to wreck for 30 laps, held everybody up, raced everybody like s***, and then literally just stopped in front of me on the backstretch. I’m not here to wreck people,” Huffman explained. “He’s going to call me a hack? I’ve watched that dude race for 15 years, I don’t think I’ve ever seen him win one race. I’ve seen him crash more race cars than races he’s finished. And they spend a hell of a lot of money — probably more than anybody out here. So, if he wants to call me a hack, that’s fine, I’ve got a couple of championships and about 40 Late Model Stock wins he can suck on.”
