TC Daily Pit Stop: Tuesday, November 12th, 2024
Did you enjoy championship weekend? The racing was solid, the battles were fierce, and two drivers were crowned first-time NASCAR champions, with the other entering rarified air.
Joey Logano Plays ‘Penske Perfect’ Defense to Secure Third NASCAR Cup Series Title
After a strong afternoon at Phoenix Raceway, Joey Logano has joined rarified air in the NASCAR Cup Series.
The 34-year-old driver was able to secure the victory in Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series Championship Race at the one-mile oval in Avondale, Arizona, and in the process collect his third championship at NASCAR’s top level.
In doing so, Logano becomes the 10th driver in the history of the NASCAR Cup Series to have three or more championships, joining Richard Petty, Dale Earnhardt, Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Gordon, Lee Petty, David Pearson, Cale Yarborough, Darrell Waltrip, and Tony Stewart.

Riley Herbst Earns Dominant Victory; Allgaier Claims Xfinity Series Championship
Riley Herbst wasn’t part of the four-driver battle for the 2024 NASCAR Xfinity Series championship, but that didn’t stop him from putting on an absolute clinic at Phoenix Raceway on Saturday.
Herbst, driving the No. 98 Ford Mustang Dark Horse from the soon-to-close Stewart-Haas Racing, led a race-high 167 of 213 laps on the way to his third victory in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.
With a second-place finish, Justin Allgaier, driver of the No. 7 BRANDT Fresh Agriculture Chevrolet Camaro for JR Motorsports, was crowned the 2024 champion of the NASCAR Xfinity Series. Through a 15-year career and several close calls, it’s Allgaier’s first title in the second-tier series.

Ty Majeski Wins Truck Series Finale at Phoenix, Claims 2024 Series Championship
It was a night to remember for Ty Majeski and ThorSport Racing at Phoenix Raceway on Friday, as Majeski and the No. 98 team took home the victory in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Championship Race.
Since Majeski was part of the Championship 4, the victory also locked up the 2024 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series championship for the driver from Seymour, Wisconsin.
The No. 98 Road Ranger Ford F-150 was strong from the moment it first hit the race track, posting the third-fastest time in practice, winning the pole for Friday’s event, and captured the win in the race’s second stage.

Hingorani (3rd) Takes ARCA West Title; Zilisch Leads All But One Lap in Phoenix Win
Connor Zilisch was about as dominant as you can be in Friday afternoon’s ARCA Menards Series West season-finale at Phoenix Raceway. The 18-year-old driver of the No. 28 Pinnacle Racing Group Chevrolet led 99 of 100 laps around the 1-mile oval.
Zilisch, who had five wins in the ARCA Menards Series, and four wins in the ARCA East Series this year, added an ARCA Menards Series West win to the stat line. The dominance kind of took the young racer by surprise as his No. 28 team has left a little to be desired on shorter flat tracks this season.
“This team, we’ve struggled in the past on tracks like this like Milwaukee,” Zilisch explained. “This is a brand new car that we haven’t run this year before. I’m just so proud of all these guys, man. When we struggle at a track, they work so hard to bring a fast car the next time we go to a track. I like it.”
