Rajah Caruth Scores First NASCAR Victory in Truck Series Race at Las Vegas
Friday was quite a day and night for Rajah Caruth, the driver of the No. 71 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet Silverado in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. The 21-year-old racer scored his first career pole earlier in the day, and on Friday night, he scored a historic win.
Not only did Caruth take his first career NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series win, but in doing so, he became just the third black driver to win a NASCAR National Series win as he joined Wendell Scott and Bubba Wallace.
“It’s surreal”, Caruth said in his post-race interview. “Can’t thank my family enough, you know, so many people have helped me get to this point and I just can’t believe it.”

Taylor Gray Inching Closer to First Career Win with Fourth-Place Result at Las Vegas
While Rajah Caruth deservingly was the headline story from Friday night’s NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race, Taylor Gray also impressed mightily with a fourth-place finish.
But if you’ve been paying close attention, Gray has been in the mix inside the top-five virtually all three races this season. He is marching toward his first career NASCAR Truck Series win. In fact, Gray was ahead of Caruth after his final pit stop of the race, but he was unable to hold the driver of the No. 71 back down the stretch.
“It just sucks,” Gray said about losing out on the victory Friday. “We came out two seconds – or I don’t know what the exact number is – in the lead and it just sucks. I can’t thank everyone at TRICON Garage for bringing me a really good Mobil 1 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro. I can’t hang my head too bad. We ran in the top five and had a pretty good points day. Gotta keep working hard, and we will go get them in Bristol.”
