Paul Wolfe Disappointed in Austin Dillon and NASCAR for Richmond Finish
It takes a lot to get Paul Wolfe hot under the collar, but the finish to Sunday night’s Cook Out 400, where his driver Joey Logano and Denny Hamlin were both wiped out by Austin Dillon, who went on to win the race, did just that.
In an interview with SiriusXM in the Richmond Raceway garage area, Wolfe lashed out at NASCAR for allowing what happened to take place.
“Well, yeah, he wrecked us and then he hooked another car because he wasn’t going to win,” Wolfe said with rising anger. “Didn’t he hook the 11? It all sort of happened so fast. It wasn’t even — if he had washed up into us on the green going into [Turn] 1, you would understand. That’s what is going to happen. We raced clean, we passed him clean. We were four car lengths ahead of him. That wasn’t a racing incident. Anyone can see that. So, I guess what I’m asking NASCAR is what have we gotten to? Is this not racing anymore? At some point, we’re going to have to not turn into a circus here.”

Tyler Reddick Thinks NASCAR Not Penalizing Austin Dillon will Set a Dangerous Precedent
Count Tyler Reddick as one of the many within the industry that are upset that NASCAR didn’t levy any penalties at Austin Dillon in the immediate post-race of Sunday’s Cook Out 400 at Richmond.
Reddick says if there are no penalties for Dillon this week, it sets a dangerous precedent as the NASCAR Cup Series rolls towards the Playoffs and ultimately the Championship race at Phoenix in November.
“If what happened last night is okay at Richmond, why would it not be okay at Phoenix to win a championship? Do we really want the guy who wins the championship to right-hook a fellow Championship 4 contender? They just basically said that’s okay, that doesn’t sit well with me,” Reddick stated.
