NASCAR Opens Up Strategy Options for Wet Weather Conditions on Ovals
On Thursday, NASCAR updated some language in the rule book in reference to wet weather tire usage on oval race tracks, beginning with this weekend’s NASCAR Cup and Truck races at Richmond Raceway.
Teams will now be in control of strategy decisions once a natural yellow flag is displayed under wet weather conditions. If you recall back to New Hampshire Motor Speedway, NASCAR had complete control over any tire changes being made while under wet weather conditions.
Teams will now be allowed to manage their wet weather tire allotment.

XINSURANCE Sponsoring MBM Motorsports, Parker Retzlaff at Richmond
Parker Retzlaff will not have a blank No. 66 MBM Motorsports car in his NASCAR Cup Series debut this weekend at Richmond Raceway. XINSURANCE has joined MBM Motorsports as the primary sponsorship partner for the event.
“We are excited to sponsor and support Parker Retzlaff in this NASCAR event and wish him the best in his debut race,” said Rick J. Lindsay, President and CEO of XINSURANCE.
Retzlaff was a surprise entry on this weekend’s entry list, but MBM Motorsports confirmed Retzlaff needed to run the race for NASCAR to approve him for his scheduled start for Beard Motorsports in the NASCAR Cup Series Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona later this month.
