Ty Majeski Paces Practice for Truck Series Championship Race
Championship 4 driver Ty Majeski paced NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series practice from Phoenix Raceway on Friday, firing the first warning shot against his competitors that the No. 98 Ford F-150 is going to be a strong contender.
The defending NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series champion was fastest over Layne Riggs, Brent Crews, Rajah Caruth, and Gio Ruggiero. Of the other Championship 4 contenders, Tyler Ankrum was 7th, Kaden Honeycutt 12th, and Corey Heim 15th.
Ty Majeski Believes He’s the Title Favorite, Not Corey Heim
Having collected a record-breaking 11 victories on the campaign, it should be a complete and total no-brainer that Corey Heim is the favorite to win the 2025 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series championship, right?
Well, let’s just hold those horses there, because Ty Majeski, the defending champion of the NASCAR Truck Series, has something to say regarding that assumption.
Majeski came out of the box swinging in Thursday’s Championship 4 Media Availability at Phoenix Raceway, expressing his true feelings on the matter: That he and the No. 98 ThorSport Racing team are the true championship favorites, not Corey Heim and TRICON Garage.

In all of the chaos, being released by Niece Motorsports and scrambling to find somewhere that he could finish out the season, Honeycutt didn’t just find a layover for his new opportunity next season, instead he found an opportunity to make NASCAR history.

Tyler Ankrum Aware of Challenge Ahead; Hoping to Vanquish Phoenix Struggles
It’s not lost on Tyler Ankrum, the fact that he could leave Avondale, Arizona, following Friday’s NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Championship Race at Phoenix Raceway as a NASCAR National Series champion.
If Ankrum is going to make that happen on Friday, he’ll have to come out on top of a heavyweight fight, which includes Corey Heim, who has been on a record-breaking tear this year, and defending NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series champion Ty Majeski.
Plus, for someone who just called Phoenix Raceway his worst racetrack on the circuit, the McAnally-Hilgemann Racing driver seems pretty calm about things.
