Rick Hendrick Praises Work Ethic of William Byron; Says No. 24 Team Flying Under-The-Radar Heading Into Phoenix
NASCAR's William Byron faces a crucial moment at the season finale in Phoenix, competing as a member of the Championship 4. At just 25, he's the youngest contender and could become the third-youngest Cup Series champion. Byron's rapid rise, from Legends Cars to the Cup Series in six years, showcases his determination and work ethic, according to Hendrick Motorsports team owner Rick Hendrick.
Despite an impressive record with six 2023 Cup Series wins, Byron has remained somewhat under the radar due to his modest, professional demeanor. Team owner Rick Hendrick believes Byron's journey is an inspiring story for NASCAR and aspiring young athletes. To claim his first Cup Series title, Byron will need to outshine strong competitors, including Kyle Larson, Ryan Blaney, and Christopher Bell, in the Phoenix showdown.
Lowden-Jackson Motorsports is revving up for the ARCA Menards Series West season finale at Phoenix Raceway, aiming to replicate their earlier success this year. The Las Vegas-based team has partnered with Tillys, with their logo gracing both the No. 41 and No. 46 Ford race cars for the Desert Diamond Casino West Valley 150. The team previously secured a win at Phoenix Raceway earlier in the season, with Tyler Reif behind the wheel of the No. 46 car.
The team is bringing in two new drivers for the race. Justin Johnson will be piloting the No. 46 car and is determined to focus on the event, aiming to stay out of accidents and be a contender at the race's conclusion. Johnny Borneman III is set to drive the No. 41 car and brings years of experience racing at Phoenix. His personal goal is to finish in the top five and maintain competitiveness throughout the race. Both drivers are excited to join Lowden-Jackson Motorsports for this event.
Ryan Roulette will add one last race to his 2023 ARCA Menards Series schedule as he’ll pilot the No. 12 Fast Track Racing entry this weekend in the ARCA West season finale at Phoenix Raceway. Roulette is optimistic about his potential performance at the track where he made his ARCA debut.
“We are excited to be back at Phoenix Raceway for the third time in the ARCA Menards Series,” Roulette said. “In 2021 this track is where it all started for us in ARCA and we keep getting better every time we run there,” he added.
While NASCAR championship weekend at Phoenix Raceway is a massive focus for this weekend in the racing world, another prestigious event is taking place as the ASA STARS National Tour will wrap up its season with the All American 400 at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway on Sunday, November 5th.
The big-time short track race can be watched live on Racing America. Pre-race coverage will begin at 1 PM ET, and the race will kick off at 2 PM ET.
