LEGACY Suing Rick Ware Racing for Backing Out of Charter Deal

On Tuesday, LEGACY MOTOR CLUB filed a complaint against Rick Ware Racing over a contract dispute over an alleged agreement for LMC to acquire one of RWR’s NASCAR Cup Series team charters.

Within the highly redacted 46-page court filing, LEGACY MOTOR CLUB alleges that they came to an agreement with Rick Ware Racing on the sale of the Charter on March 3, 2025, but despite the agreement being signed and initialed on each page, Rick Ware Racing is attempting to back out of the deal.

“Despite having a binding deal in place, [Rick Ware Racing] wants to back out,” says LEGACY MOTOR CLUB in its complaint. “It has told LEGACY that it will not, under any circumstances, close the parties’ transaction. LEGACY has tried to talk sense into RWR to no avail. LEGACY’s patience has run out. It now brings this suit to enforce its rights and hold RWR to a deal.”

Sammy Smith Fined $25k, Docked 50 Points Post-Martinsville

If you thought Sammy Smith was going to get away from crashing Taylor Gray from the lead on the final lap of Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series US Marine Corps 250 at Martinsville, you were wrong.

In its weekly penalty report on Wednesday, NASCAR handed out a $25,000 fine to Smith, and they docked the driver 50 championship points for good measure. The point penalty drops Smith from sixth in points to 13th.

Additionally, NASCAR suspended two members of the No. 88 Trackhouse Racing NASCAR Cup Series pit crew for a detached wheel in Sunday’s Cook Out 400.
