National Motorsports Appeals Panel Upholds Penalties to No. 43 LEGACY MOTOR CLUB Team
On Wednesday, the No. 43 LEGACY MOTOR CLUB team had a chance to appeal its L1 penalty following the Enjoy Illinois 300 at Gateway earlier this month. After hearing the appeal, the National Motorsports Appeals Panel upheld the penalties levied by NASCAR.
The panel ruled that the team had broken the rules set forth in the NASCAR Cup Series rulebook, which do not allow the modification of single-source supplied parts for the Next Gen cars. The No. 43 car was found to have a modified greenhouse after the race at Gateway.
As a result, the No. 43 team and Erik Jones will not have their 60 owner and driver point deductions, and five playoff points deductions restored. Crew chief Dave Elenz will serve the second of his two-race suspension this weekend at Chicago, and his $75,000 fine stands.

Layne Riggs Notches Emotional CARS Tour Victory at Caraway in KHI Debut
You could feel the emotion as Layne Riggs climbed from the No. 62 Kevin Harvick, Inc. CARS Tour Late Model Stock on Wednesday night at Caraway Speedway. The 21-year-old son of former NASCAR standout Scott Riggs, is a budding talent, but he’s had a hard time finding opportunities in 2023.
This win could be the launching pad to a bright future for Riggs, as it came in a car owned by Kevin Harvick and he was crew chiefed by Rodney Childers. To score the win, Riggs had to pass JR Motorsports hot shoe Carson Kvapil for the lead, and then he had to hold off Jared Fryar down the stretch.
“I just can’t believe it,” said Riggs after climbing from his car. “Thank you to DeLana [Harvick], Rodney [Childers], and Kevin [Harvick]. God, I did not think we were going to win tonight, I just drove the best I could. I knew the No. 8 [Kvapil] was really strong, the No. 14 [Fryar] was good there at the end, too.”
