Kyle Larson Scores Third Straight Pole with Strong Lap at Texas
Another week, another Kyle Larson NASCAR Cup Series pole. The driver, who was second-fastest in Open Testing for the Indianapolis 500 on Wednesday, went out on Saturday and scored the pole for Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series Autotrader EchoPark Automotive 400 at Texas Motor Speedway.
The pole marks the 250th pole position for the Hendrick Motorsports team, and it is Larson’s third-consecutive pole. The driver of the No. 5 HendrickCars.com Chevrolet Camaro defeated Ty Gibbs, who will lineup on the outside of Row 1, for the top spot.

Kyle Busch wasn’t the only driver to find trouble in NASCAR Cup practice as Jimmie Johnson also got loose in the session, and collided with the outside wall. Like Busch, Johnson was unable to take a qualifying lap due to the practice crash, and will start at the rear of the field for his second Cup Series start of 2024.

Sam Mayer Ekes Out Texas Victory in Thrilling Photo Finish with Ryan Sieg
Remember that disappointing season that Sam Mayer was having? Saturday, at Texas Motor Speedway Mayer put an end to the questions on if he would return to form as he narrowly defeated Ryan Sieg in a thrilling battle in the closing laps to win the Andy’s Frozen Custard 300 at Texas by just 0.002 sec.
The finish was the second-closest finish in NASCAR Xfinity Series history.
“That’s absolutely unreal,” Mayer said after climbing from his car. “This Carolina Carports Chevrolet was certainly as fast as XFINITY internet, but this team, the amount of adversity we’ve had to fight this entire year so far and to come to a mile-and-a-half that I want to say I’m good at, but it took a lot, it took every ounce of me to do that today.”
