TC Daily Pit Stop: Larson Dominates (Again) for Food City 500 Win
TC Daily Pit Stop: Monday, April 14th, 2025
Kyle Larson Dominates Food City 500 at Bristol
Stop us if you heard this on Saturday, but Kyle Larson was simply unstoppable in Sunday’s Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway. Larson followed up a dominant win in Saturday’s SciAps 300 with a 411 laps led performance in the 500-lap NASCAR Cup Series event on Sunday as he held off Denny Hamlin by 2.250 seconds for the victory.
The emphatic win follows a 462-lap led performance last Fall when Larson won the Night Race at Bristol. With the back-to-back dominant Cup Series performances at Bristol, Larson becomes the first driver since Bobby Allison in 1972 to lead more than 400 laps in consecutive races at Bristol.
The win capped off an emotional week for the Hendrick Motorsports team, which lost longtime PR representative Jon Edwards, who had been serving as the team’s director of communications and was assigned as Larson’s PR representative since the 2021 season.
“It’s special,” said Kyle Larson. “Jon Edwards meant a lot to the No. 5 team and a lot to the NASCAR industry, too. Just good to get a win for him. Obviously, we don’t want to be winning for him and his spirit, we wish he was here in person with us. But he is no longer here, so it’s just going to be fun to celebrate, and I know he is smiling down on us. We had a damn good weekend, as he would say.”

Rogue Wheel Narrowly Misses Daniel Suarez’s Trackhouse Pit Crew
The No. 99 Trackhouse Racing pit crew suffered a close call during a pit stop in Sunday’s Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway. John Hunter Nemechek pulled away from his pit stall, but his team failed to get a wheel tightened on his No. 42 LEGACY MOTOR CLUB Toyota.
As Nemechek took off down pit road, the wheel detached, and began rolling uncontrolled down pit lane. The tire flew into the No. 99 pit box, narrowly missing rear changer Seth Gajdorus as it pounded into the rear bumper of the car, and then bounced into the fuel can of fueler Milan Rudanovic.
