TC Daily Pit Stop: Larson and Day Walk Away From Hangtown 100 Flips; Hocevar Teams With Cleetus to Win 2.4 Hours of LeMullets
TC Daily Pit Stop: Monday, November 17, 2025
Over the weekend, some NASCAR National Series names took part in some offseason extracurricular racing. In the end, they had mixed results, and some went for wild rides.
Kyle Larson And Corey Day Tumble in Separate Crashes During Hangtown 100 at Placerville Speedway
It was a nerve-racking night for Hendrick Motorsports management, likely on Saturday night, as two of the organization’s full-time NASCAR National Series drivers went for wild rides in the Hangtown 100 at Placerville Speedway.
Corey Day got things kicked off with 42 laps to go in the main event.
Day, who was running second to Larson at the time, was attempting to hold off Daison Pursley for the second spot. As he was trying to keep Pursley in the rearview mirror, Day misjudged a lapped car ahead.
Day would make contact with the rear tire of the lapped car, which sent his No. 4K machine into the air, and he would flip wildly end-over-end four times before coming to a hard stop. Fortunately, he walked away.
With five laps remaining, Larson, who had dominated the race, was attempting to hold off Pursley for the race win. As Larson took the high line into Turns 1 and 2, Pursley fired his car to the inside.
Pursley would hit the berm on the inside of the track and would skid up into the left front tire of Larson’s car, which would send Larson flipping from the lead. Larson would walk away and would even gesture applause and thumbs up to Pursley as his competitor drove by the scene. Pursley would go on to win the race.
Carson Hocevar, Cleetus McFarland Claim 2.4 Hours of LeMullets Win
While things didn’t go to plan for the Hendrick drivers at Placerville, Carson Hocevar was on the other end of things in Bradenton, FL, on Saturday evening. Teamed with Cleetus McFarland, Hocevar drove the final leg of the 2.4 Hours of LeMullets and was able to hold off a hard-charging Greg Biffle in the closing laps by just over a second to claim the prestigious event.
McFarland finished second in the event a year ago, driving as a teammate to Biffle.
