Bob Labonte, Father of Terry and Bobby Labonte, Passes Away
Bob Labonte, the father of NASCAR Cup Series champions Bobby and Terry Labonte passed away earlier this week. Bobby Labonte shared the news on Tuesday in a post on his X account.
“This week, Terry and I lost our Dad. To many of you who knew him around the garage, you know he was larger than life. To us, he was our Dad and also a crew chief, a mentor, our biggest fan, our motivation at times, and our hero,” Labonte said.
In addition to being the father of two NASCAR Cup Series champions, Bob Labonte was also a two-time NASCAR Xfinity Series championship-winning car owner and crew chief.

Earnhardt, Jr. Joining CARS Tour Field at Florence in August, Sammy Smith to Run North Wilkesboro
Dale Earnhardt Jr., who will compete in this weekend’s zMAX CARS Tour event at New River All American Speedway, will also add the August 30 race at Florence Motor Speedway to his schedule. Earnhardt will pilot the No. 3 Sun Drop car for that event.
Additionally, JR Motorsports announced that Sammy Smith will pilot the No. 88 Cherry Lime Sun Drop machine at North Wilkesboro Speedway in the May 15 CARS Tour event.

If you’re trying to figure out what to eat at Chili’s Bar & Grill, just check out Stewart Friesen’s No. 52 Toyota Tundra for Friday’s NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event at Texas Motor Speedway. The truck will feature the Chili’s menu as the actual paint scheme of the truck.
Friesen is hoping to contend for his second win at Texas Motor Speedway this weekend with Chili’s on board.
“All of us at HFR are proud to represent Chili’s on their home turf in an event where we took home the trophy just two years ago,” said Stewart Friesen. “Our program has shown some speed this year. We’re hoping to put the Chili’s No. 52 out front in Texas.”
