TC Daily Pit Stop: Kyle Larson Files Last-Minute Chili Bowl Entry; Wallace, Busch Pick Up New Sponsors; Balcaen Running Full-Time for Venturini; and More!
TC Daily Pit Stop: Wednesday, January 10th, 2024
Kyle Larson, the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series champion and a two-time winner of the Chili Bowl Nationals, will return to the race in 2024, as part of a last-minute entry with Keith Kunz Motorsports and Curb-Agajanian Motorsports.
Larson will compete in Thursday’s preliminary action in Tulsa, Oklahoma, as he hopes to advance to Saturday’s A-Main Feature.
However, should he lock into Saturday’s A-Main, he will be running two races in one day, competing at Vado Speedway Park’s Wild West Shootout in a Dirt Late Model, before jumping back into Tulsa for the 55-lap main event.
Bubba Wallace will reunite with the United States Air Force for a multi-race primary sponsorship in 2024, 23XI Racing announced on Tuesday.
“The Air Force and 23XI recognize that teamwork is the most critical component in achieving success,” said Steve Lauletta, 23XI team president. “We look forward to moving forward together to achieve our collective goals both on the track and in the broader community.”
Wallace was sponsored by the US Air Force during his three-year tenure at Richard Petty Motorsports, driving the No. 43 Chevrolet Camaro.
Kyle Busch has a brand-new sponsor for the 2024 and 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season in Rebel Bourdon, Richard Childress Racing announced on Tuesday.
The company, whose parent company Luxco produces brands such as Everclear, will serve as a multi-race primary sponsor of the No. 8 Chevrolet Camaro in both 2024 and 2025. The first race for Rebel Bourbon as a primary partner will come at Richmond Raceway on March 31st.
“We looked at a lot of sponsorship opportunities across several different leagues, and this was the perfect fit,” said Philip Lux, brand manager for Rebel Bourbon. “We didn’t just want to put our logo on something and call it a day. We wanted a team who does their own thing and embodies the essence of our brand. With Kyle and the RCR team, we found the perfect partner to bring the spirit and attitude of the Rebel brand to fans who feel the same way.”
Austin Green, a standout in the Trans-Am TA2 division, will run a partial schedule in the NASCAR Xfinity Series in 2024, driving for Peterson Racing Group, who fields the No. 87 Chevrolet Camaro.
The organization made its debut at Charlotte’s ROVAL in October with Andy Lally, but failed to qualify for the event. Green has competed in a single ARCA Menards Series event with Visconti Motorsports in 2020, finishing seventh at Toledo.
An exact schedule was originally posted, but corrected later, with Green stating the team’s event plans are not totally finalized.
Rackley W.A.R. has tapped Shane Wilson, a veteran crew chief in NASCAR’s National Series, to work with Ty Dillon in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series in 2024, replacing Chad Kendrick, who will move to the Xfinity Series.
“I’m excited to be a part of a Playoff team, and to be able to work with a Cup-caliber driver in Ty Dillon,” Wilson stated. “In working with Willie Allen while we established the goals for this new opportunity, I think the word is ‘comfortable.’ That’s the feeling I get; it’s a good organization.”
Dillon was announced several weeks ago as the new full-time driver for the No. 25 Chevrolet Silverado, which benefits the team, as Dillon and Wilson have a previous relationship of working together
Amber Balcaen will compete full-time in the ARCA Menards Series in 2024, driving for Venturini Motorsports, the driver announced on Wednesday.
ICON Direct, a long-time partner of Balcaen, will serve as the primary sponsor of the entry in 2024, which is expected to be the No. 22 Toyota Camry — as she appears on the entry list for Daytona pre-season practice.
“This year, the goal is to win races, and win a championship,” Balcaen says in the 18-second video clip. “Let’s make 2024 the best one yet.”
With the 2024 ARCA Menards Series campaign just a couple of weeks away, the series’ annual pre-season test is set to go off without a hitch this weekend at Daytona International Speedway — where 75 drivers are entered.
Some of this year’s biggest names on the entry list include NASCAR Cup Series winner Shane Van Gisbergen, and INDYCAR and SRX Champion driver Marco Andretti. SVG is teaming up with Pinnacle Racing Group while Marco is joining forces with Cook Racing Technologies from the ARCA Menards Series West.
Both of the ARCA Menards Series East and West Champions will also be heading down to Florida for some testing. West Champ Sean Hingorani will pilot the No. 12 with Fast Track Racing, while East Series champion William Sawalich will be behind the wheel of the No. 18S for Joe Gibbs Racing.
