Sheldon Creed Breaks Second-Place Curse; Wins at EchoPark Speedway
Try as he might, Sheldon Creed simply couldn’t find a way to break through in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series. Through 137 starts, the driver had come tantalizingly close with 15 runner-up finishes. But he just couldn’t find the keys to victory lane.
On Saturday night, that all changed. With one lap to go at EchoPark Speedway, it looked like we were well on our way to another Austin Hill superspeedway win, when something wild happened.
Heading into Turn 3 for the final time, Hill received contact from behind from NASCAR Cup star Ross Chastain, which sent him skidding on the apron in Turn 3. Chastain’s momentum also slowed, which paved the way for Creed to cruise by them on the outside to take the lead and ultimately the win.
“It never plays out how you draw it up. But, finally, a winner, and maybe, I don’t know if one win will kind of revive my career, but maybe if I win a few this year, it will,” Creed told The CW post-race. “And probably going to drink a ton of Coors Lights tonight.”

Kyle Busch, Carson Hocevar Drive Spire to 1-2 Finish at EchoPark Speedway
In a race that was shortened by 10 laps due to time constraints following a lengthy weather delay, Kyle Busch reeled in his 68th career victory in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.
As the battle up front was frantic with comers and goers over the last few laps, one constant remained, and that was Kyle Busch, who had his Spire Motorsports teammate, Carson Hocevar, shoving him to paydirt.
“[Had] huge help from behind, Carson Hocevar was a great teammate today,” Busch said after the race. “Early on in the race, I was like, wait a second, okay, same hold Carson, but as we got toward the end, we started working together, and we started being able to maneuver our way through. At the end of the second stage, we were able to ratchet forward, and then at the end, he was a great wingman.”
