TC Daily Pit Stop: Friday, July 21st, 2023
Alright, how many of you had Justin Haley to Rick Ware Racing on your silly season bingo cards? On Thursday, RWR made the announcement that they have acquired the 24-year-old racer in a multi-year agreement beginning with the 2024 season.
The team says the number of Haley’s Ford Mustang and the sponsorship partners for the effort will be announced at a later date. Haley, who has one career NASCAR Cup Series win, has one top-five and five top-10 finishes in the No. 31 Kaulig Racing entry so far this season.
Ryan Newman took care of his brakes early in Thursday night’s Camping World SRX Racing event at Stafford Motor Speedway, and when the race made it to it’s closing stages, Newman had the most car left under him.
As a result, the 45-year-old closed in on Tony Kanaan for the race lead. After battling for the lead for several laps, Kanaan suffered a brake failure on a late-race restart, which handed the lead, and the eventual win to Newman.
NASCAR Cup Series regular Daniel Suarez finished runner-up, while Marco Andretti, Ken Schrader, and Greg Biffle rounded out the top-five finishers.
This week on The Final Lap Weekly, Toby and Kerry talk about the dominating performance by Martin Truex Jr. at New Hampshire, and whether they would be able to consider retiring if they were performing at the level that Truex is right now.
They also give a full preview of this weekend’s action at Pocono Raceway. Enjoy the show!
On Friday, the ARCA Menards Series heads to the bad fast, and technical Pocono Raceway for the Sunset Hill Shooting Range 150. TobyChristie.com’s Ben Branscum gives a full preview including the storylines throughout the field heading into the race, including the championship battle between Jesse Love and Frankie Muniz.
The story also includes the complete 25-car entry list for the race.
