Ryan Newman Sneaks Into Contention to Win SRX Race at Stafford
Ryan Newman took care of his brakes early in Thursday night’s Camping World SRX Racing event at Stafford Motor Speedway, and when the race made it to it’s closing stages, Newman had the most car left under him.
As a result, the 45-year-old closed in on Tony Kanaan for the race lead. After battling for the lead for several laps, Kanaan suffered a brake failure on a late-race restart, which handed the lead, and the eventual win to Newman.
NASCAR Cup Series regular Daniel Suarez finished runner-up, while Marco Andretti, Ken Schrader, and Greg Biffle rounded out the top-five finishers.
