Justin Allgaier Holds Field Back in NASCAR Overtime at Michigan
Justin Allgaier, unlike the majority of the field, had no worries about how much fuel was in his tank in the closing laps in Saturday’s Cabo Wabo 250 at Michigan International Speedway. As a result, the driver of the No. 7 JR Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro was able to be aggressive as he peddled his way past Sheldon Creed and John Hunter Nemechek to take the race lead with 20 laps to go.
Allgaier, who led a race-high 37 laps in the 128-lap event, would have to endure an overtime restart and challenge from Sheldon Creed, who is still seeking his first career win. Allgaier would have the advantage on the final lap as a nasty wreck ensued behind him. With the caution coming out, the field was frozen, and Allgaier was awarded the race win.

"I closed my eyes when I was about to flip upside down. Just tough,” Sieg explained after being checked and released from the infield care center. “It's a scary ride. I'm glad I'm alright. Knocked the wind out of me there. Just glad I'm alright."
