Josh Berry Secures Third Xfinity Series Pole of 2023 at Las Vegas
Still chasing after his first victory in the NASCAR Xfinity Series this season, Josh Berry comes to a facility he’s found major success at in the past, Las Vegas Motor Speedway, as his tenure in NASCAR’s second-tier series comes to a close.
Berry, driving the No. 8 LubeZone Chevrolet Camaro, posted the quickest time in qualifying from Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Friday, allowing the Hendersonville, Tennessee native to collect his third pole of the season with a lap of 29.671 seconds (181.996mph).
Cole Custer came up just half a tenth short of the quickest time on Friday, leaving him to start outside the front row in his Haas Automation Ford Mustang for Stewart-Haas Racing. Sammy Smith and Chandler Smith, a pair of ‘Round of 8’ drivers, will start third and fourth.
Rounding out the top five was Parker Retzlaff, who placed his Jordan Anderson Racing Chevrolet in fifth place on Friday, after a spectacular lap in qualifying, marking his third top-five qualifying result of the year.

Cappello Hits It Lucky In Las Vegas, Takes Home First Career Win At The Bullring
It was a special night out in the deserts of Las Vegas as Dylan Cappello took home his first career win in the Star Nursery 150 at the Bullring in his second career start. The Peoria, Arizona native only hand one ARCA Menards Series West race before at Roseville in 2015.
“Man, it’s just crazy. It was just kind of a one-off deal…Mike Naake has a great piece,” the Front Row Motorsports engineer said post-race. “I knew we were gonna come through the field…These guys are animals on restarts, and I was kind of struggling to get through gears all night. Just got through the gears good enough and got a good entry into one…We got it done,” he added.
Trevor Huddleston was able to sneak home in second after a late-race restart. “Obviously as a race car driver you want to win every race, but there was a part of me there that knew I couldn’t push the button with him (Cappello) cause I had to focus on Tanner behind me,” he said post-race. A great rebound after a 15th-place finish in the last race out at Roseville.
