Joey Logano Calls Glove Penalty ‘Embarrassing’; Proud of Team Bouncing Back
Joey Logano shouldered his part of the blame for penalties sustained due to an illegal driving glove discovered by NASCAR last weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway, ahead of last Sunday’s race.
Logano’s glove had webbing installed between each of the fingers of the glove so when he placed his hand up against the window net, the additional webbing would create a bigger aerodynamic advantage for Logano than others. Logano was embarrassed by the penalties, but proud that his team battled back and got the pole again on Saturday.
“What I’m proud about with this team is that it was a tough situation for us to go through, and embarrassing for sure. But the fact that we got through it and just moved on and focused on the next week. We showed we have some speed in our race car, and to be able to put it on the pole is a statement-type lap. Proud of that,” Logano explained.
