TC Daily Pit Stop: Jesse Love Wins ARCA Race at Pocono; William Byron DQed at 5 Flags; Josh Berry and Nick Sanchez Score Poles; Saturday's TV Schedule
TC Daily Pit Stop: Saturday, July 22nd, 2023
Jesse Love led 40 of the 60 laps en route to victory in Saturday morning’s ARCA Menards Series Sunset Hill Shooting Range 150 at Pocono Raceway. The young Venturini Motorsports driver now has five wins through the opening 10 races of the 2023 ARCA season.
Love held off Connor Mosack, who was piloting the No. 18 entry for Joe Gibbs Racing for the race win.
It looked like William Byron had finally picked up an elusive first career win at 5 Flags Speedway in the ASA Southern Super Series event on Friday night. However, Byron’s race-winning No. 24 Anthony Campi Racing machine failed post-race inspection.
As a result, Byron was disqualified and the win was awarded to second-place finisher Jeremy Doss. It was a hot night in Pensacola, and the action on the track was intense. Byron was one of just a handful of drivers who avoided a massive 17-car melee on Lap 5.
Nick Sanchez has been a qualifying machine in his rookie season in NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series competition. The Rev Racing driver scored his fourth pole of the 2023 season in Friday’s qualifying session for Saturday’s CRC Brakleen 150 at Pocono Raceway.
The driver of the No. 2 Chevrolet Silverado turned a fast lap time of 53.265 sec. (168.966 mph).
Jake Garcia, a fellow rookie contender, will start from the outside of Row 1.
Josh Berry scored the second pole of his NASCAR Xfinity Series career with a blistering lap time of 53.587 sec. (167.951 mph) in the qualifying session for Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series Explore the Pocono Mountains 225 at Pocono Raceway.
The current JR Motorsports driver, and future Stewart-Haas Racing Cup Series driver, will start from the top spot at the Tricky Triangle as he was nearly three-tenths of a second faster than Daniel Hemric, who will start second.
