Parents and Nephew of Jimmie Johnson’s Wife Chandra Killed in Apparent Murder-Suicide in Oklahoma
The parents and nephew of Chandra Janway, the wife of seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson, were killed in an apparent murder-suicide on Monday, per a report from the Muskogee Phoenix.
Jack (68) and Terry Janway (69), as well as Dalton Janway (11) were found dead following a fatal shooting at their home in Oklahoma. Terry, Chandra’s mother, is considered to be the shooter.
Jimmie Johnson, originally scheduled to compete in Sunday’s Grant Park 220, has withdrawn his No. 84 Carvana Chevrolet Camaro from the event.
“LEGACY MOTOR CLUB has elected to withdraw the No. 84 Carvana Chevrolet from this weekend’s NASCAR Cup Series event in Chicago. The Johnson family has asked for privacy at this time and no further statements will be made.”

“Something Should Have Been There,” Says NASCAR’s Sawyer on Ryan Blaney Nashville Crash
Elton Sawyer, Senior Vice President of Competition for NASCAR, joined SiriusXM NASCAR Radio on Tuesday to discuss Ryan Blaney’s crash from Nashville Superspeedway, which saw him impact a concrete wall at the entrance to turn one.
After climbing from his car, Blaney was infuriated by a lack of SAFER Barrier at the inside of the track. Sawyer agreed with his frustration, saying that something should be there, and the fact that it wasn’t was “unacceptable”.

Sheldon Creed Docked 25 Points, Fined $25K for Crashing Sammy Smith at Nashville
Sheldon Creed, a full-time driver in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, has been penalized following a determination from the sanctioning body that the 25-year-old driver intentionally crashed Sammy Smith at Nashville Superspeedway.
Creed was docked 25 points, which drops him from seventh to eighth in NASCAR Xfinity Series points. The Alpine, California-native was also fined $25,000.
The incident that caused the penalty occurred on Lap 69 of Saturday’s Tennessee Lottery 250 at Nashville Superspeedway, when Creed, turned right in the middle of turns one and two, to hit Smith in the left-rear.
A statement from NASCAR says: “Following Saturday’s race at Nashville Superspeedway, NASCAR reviewed radio communications from the No. 2 team. In NASCAR’s determination, that communication clearly resulted in the No. 2 car wrecking the No. 18 car on Lap 69, causing the seventh caution of the race.”

Spencer Pumpelly Returns to SS GreenLight Racing for Chicago Street Course
Spencer Pumpelly, who competes part-time in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, will return to the NASCAR Xfinity Series in Saturday’s The Loop 121 at the Chicago Street Course.
The 48-year-old driver will return to SS GreenLight Racing to pilot the No. 07 Chevrolet Camaro. Sponsorship for the effort will come from Volkswagen of Orland Park and Volkswagen of Oak Lawn dealerships, part of the Ghaben Auto Group.
