TC Daily Pit Stop: Homestead Race to Be Named in Honor of Kevin Harvick; It's Time to Add Common Sense to Chicane Penalties; Plus Las Vegas Entry Lists
TC Daily Pit Stop: Tuesday, October 10th, 2023
As Kevin Harvick nears the official end of his NASCAR Cup Series career, the 47-year-old racer will receive the honor of having the October 22nd NASCAR Cup Series race at Homestead-Miami Speedway named in his honor.
he event, which will be presented by longtime Harvick partner Mobil 1, will be titled the 4Ever 400. 4Eever, of course, has been the unique branding that has been utilized by Harvick and Stewart-Haas Racing during his retirement tour this season.
Rules are rules. But when the rules are nonsensical isn’t it time to change them? After Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series Bank of America ROVAL 400 it is abundantly clear that the method of policing penalties involving chicanes at road courses in NASCAR needs an overhaul.
In Sunday’s race, not one, but two Playoff contenders were forced to serve penalties for missing a chicane around the 2.28-mile makeshift road course inside the Charlotte Motor Speedway facility, but there’s just one problem… neither driver drove through the chicane on their own volition.
Toby Christie thinks maybe it’s time to pump the brakes on some of these automatic rule violations, and maybe add some common sense into officiating.
There are 36 entries on the preliminary entry list for Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series South Point 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
As expected, the winner of last week’s Bank of America ROVAL 400, AJ Allmendinger returns this weekend in the No. 16 Kaulig Racing entry with primary sponsorship from Nutrien AG Solutions.

There are 40 entries [for 38 spots] on the preliminary entry list for Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series Alsco Uniforms 302 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
