Riley Herbst Earns Respect of Cup Regulars with Strong Run at Talladega
Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series Yellawood 500 at Talladega Superspeedway was a fiercely contested event, which featured 70 lead changes among 24 drivers, and tons of three, and sometimes four, wide racing.
However, the stage wasn’t too big for young Riley Herbst, who was in the mix all race long. Herbst led 10 laps on the day and ended up with a ninth-place finish after being turned on his path to the finish line.
After the race, Herbst earned high praise from several drivers in the field including race-winner Ryan Blaney and Kevin Harvick.

Report: Iowa Speedway to Appear on Cup Series Schedule in 2024
NASCAR is expected to add Iowa Speedway to the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series schedule, per a report from Jeff Gluck and Jordan Bianchi of The Athletic. In the report, Gluck and Bianchi state that an announcement is expected as early as Tuesday, October 3rd.
The 0.875-mile oval in Newton, Iowa has never hosted a NASCAR Cup Series event, but has played host to the NTT IndyCar Series, NASCAR Xfinity Series, NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, and ARCA Menards Series over the years.
Kim Reynolds, the Governor of Iowa, has a scheduled new conference for Tuesday, October 3rd, which will, “Announce a new major sports and entertainment event to be held in Iowa in 2024.”

There are 42 cars [for 38 spots] on the preliminary entry list for Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series Drive for the Cure 250 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway ROVAL.
A new team, the No. 87 Peterson Racing Group team, is also listed on the entry list with driver Andy Lally. The team will field a Chevrolet Camaro for the race. The crew chief for the entry is Christopher Measaner.
There are a plethora of other notable entries for the event, which is usually the case for road races in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.
