TC Daily Pit Stop: Heim Wins Truck Race at Daytona After Initial Winner Kligerman is DQed
TC Daily Pit Stop: Saturday, February 15th, 2025
Well, that was something on Friday, hopefully, more fun is in store on Saturday at Daytona International Speedway. However, we would like to have it all play out without post-race inspection (or rain) playing a factor in things.
Corey Heim Wins Truck Series Season Opener at Daytona after Parker Kligerman is Disqualified
Initially, it looked like Parker Kligerman had picked up a stunning win in an electric finish of Friday night’s NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Fresh From Florida 250 at Daytona. However, in a post-race inspection, NASCAR found Kligerman’s No. 75 Henderson Motorsports truck to be too low in the rear on both sides of the truck.
As a result, Corey Heim, who was charging hard, but came up short of the win on the chaotic last lap, which featured a massive melee, was named the winner of the race. This is Heim’s 12th career NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series win.
The No. 75 team has stated that it will appeal their DQ, but for now, Heim is the official winner of Friday night’s race.

William Byron Paces Second DAYTONA 500 Practice
William Byron is looking to score back-to-back Daytona 500 wins, something that has only been accomplished by four other drivers in the 67-year history of The Great American Race. On Friday, Byron led the way in the second practice session of the weekend.
The No. 24 Axalta Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet turned a fastest lap of 46.172 seconds (194.923 mph) with drafting help from teammate Chase Elliott in the No. 9 Chevrolet.
Elliott’s fast time was just 0.038 seconds off of the mark set by Byron.
Ricky Stenhouse Jr. was third-fastest, and he was followed by Richard Childress Racing teammates Kyle Busch, and Austin Dillon, who made it a clean sweep of the top-five for Chevrolet. The session was rain-shortened, and only 30 of the 40 cars in the Daytona 500 field took a lap in the practice.
