Corey Heim Solid in Debut; Finishes 25th Filling in For Injured Jones at Dover
It won’t go down as the most prolific NASCAR Cup Series debut in history, but Corey Heim competed admirably in relief of the injured Erik Jones in the Wurth 400 at Dover Motor Speedway. The 21-year-old, who found out he would be making his first career NASCAR Cup Series start mid-week, salvaged a 25th-place finish in a special STP / Dollar Tree Petty 75th Anniversary throwback paint scheme.
The native of Marietta, Georgia says that the Next Gen car, and electric atmosphere of a NASCAR Cup Series race weekend was quite a bit different than what he’s used to in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.
“Definitely a lot different,” Heim said in a post-race interview with FOX Sports’ Bob Pockrass. “I’ve been saying it all weekend, I feel like it’s a big change compared to what I’m used to. But really in the beginning to middle of the race, I thought we had a ton of speed.”

Ryan Preece on Door Foam Fire: ‘Whatever Happened is Completely Unnecessary’
While Ryan Preece and the No. 41 Stewart-Haas Racing team have only scored one top-10 finish this season, the redeeming quality for the driver and his team to this point in the season had been finishing all of the races. After the door foam in his Ford Mustang Dark Horse ignited early in Sunday’s Wurth 400 at Dover Motor Speedway, Preece had no choice but to take his race car to the garage after completing just 66 laps.
With changing out the door foam not being an option for the team, it meant that was the end of the day for Preece, who would be credited with a last-place finish and his first DNF of the year.
After climbing from his race car, Preece spoke to FOX Sports’ Bob Pockrass about the situation, and the 33-year-old gave a pretty chilling recollection of what went on in his race car.

Black’s Tire Returns to Kaulig Racing for Darlington Sponsorship of Daniel Hemric
Black’s Tire, a long-time sponsor across various teams in NASCAR’s National Series, will return to Kaulig Racing to sponsor NASCAR Cup Series driver Daniel Hemric at Darlington Raceway, the organization confirmed on Monday.
The company first joined forces with Kaulig Racing last season, serving as the primary sponsor of AJ Allmendinger and the No. 16 Chevrolet Camaro in last Spring’s Throwback Weekend event at Darlington Raceway.
“We’re excited to team up with our friends at Kaulig Racing for the second time at Darlington,” said Ricky Benton, president at Black’s Tire. “With this year being our 95th anniversary, we thought what better way to celebrate than to use our ‘throwback’ colors for NASCAR’s annual throwback weekend.“
