Heim Benefits From Majeski’s Late-Race Misfortune for Richmond Win; Truck Series Playoff Field Set
We’ve reached the point now where Corey Heim doesn’t even have to be the dominant driver to score wins in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. On Friday night at Richmond Raceway, Ty Majeski dominated the race by winning Stages 1 and 2 as he led 143 of 250 laps.
However, an oil patch on the track late in the race led to Matt Crafton, Majeski’s teammate, slipping in the oil, which sent him into the side of Majeski’s truck, which in turn sent them both spinning.
This took control of the race away from Majeski, and on the final restart of the race, Heim was able to work his way to the race lead as he got around Sammy Smith to take his seventh win of the 2025 season.
“Yeah, I really didn’t feel like we were — I mean, me personally, I wasn’t very good. I was very inconsistent,” Heim said after collecting his latest win. “Obviously, [Ty Majeski] was the best truck. I’m sure he got damaged there, and it slowed him down. But you know, we’ve had some get away on us like that this year, this is one that kind of redeems that a little bit.”
Majeski would rally after picking up additional damage on the final restart to finish second.

From (Almost) Last to First: Preece Improves From 37th in Practice to Score Richmond Pole
Ryan Preece had just one NASCAR Cup Series pole position throughout his first 211 races of his career, but he picked an excellent time to snag his second pole award.
As Preece has two races left to work his way into Playoff contention, the RFK Racing driver lit up the scoring sheet in NASCAR Cup Series qualifying as he topped Tyler Reddick by 0.087 seconds to take the pole for Saturday night’s Cook Out 400 at Richmond.
Preece credited crew chief Derrick Finley for making perfect changes to their car after they clocked in 37th-fastest in NASCAR Cup practice moments before qualifying began.
“Yeah, that was great adjustments by Derrick and everybody with this Kleenex/Kroger Ford Mustang. I can’t thank RFK enough for the opportunity, and boy, what a racecar,” Preece said in an interview on TruTV. “It might not have shown up in practice early on for that fast lap, but it did in qualifying.”
