Kyle Larson Earns Inaugural Pole for Cup Series at Iowa Speedway
Kyle Larson secured his fourth pole of the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season Saturday at Iowa Speedway, and he will lead the field to green in the inaugural NASCAR Cup Series race at Iowa Speedway.
Larson, the last driver to take to the track in the shortened Iowa Corn 350 qualifying session, turned a lap time of 23.084 seconds (136.458 mph), which was good enough to best Ryan Blaney for the pole position. Larson now has 20-career NASCAR Cup Series poles.
Behind the front row starters of Larson and Blaney will be Brad Keselowski, and William Byron in row 2.

Sam Mayer Beats Riley Herbst in NASCAR Overtime to Score Xfinity Win at Iowa
Sam Mayer is beginning to look like Superman behind the wheel of a NASCAR Xfinity Series car. On Saturday, the 20-year-old driver scored his sixth-career win after a late-race duel with Riley Herbst, which was ultimately settled on an overtime restart.
Mayer led a total of 47 laps in the 250-lap event and took the lead for the final time with two laps remaining.
Had you seen practice on Friday, the win for Mayer would have been very improbable as the No. 1 JR Motorsports driver was out to lunch in practice, and he and crew chief Mardy Lindley didn’t seem to know what to do to fix the lack of speed. They figured it out in the end.

‘You Weren’t Even In The Same Race’: Tempers Continue Off Track Between Dennison and The Wrights
We’ve got beef! And ARCA beef, at that. Kris Wright, and Cody Dennison weren’t seeing eye-to-eye after a crash in Friday night’s ARCA Menards Series event at Iowa Speedway.
Wright admitted that the incident was his fault in his post-infield care center interview, but I guess he never told Dennison that. As Dennison exited the care center, he was still fuming at Wright.
“I don’t even know what he (Wright) looks like. He’s always running, hiding somewhere cause he’s out of his car. He’s never made it to the end of the race so I’ve never seen what he looks like,” Dennison said in the interview.
Dennison spilled his frustration onto social media, where he lashed out against Wright again, and Wright’s brother Kevin stepped in to defend his sibling. Caleb Costner, the owner of Dennison’s car stepped in and tweeted about the situation as well.
