TC Daily Pit Stop: Final 124 Laps of Cup Race at Michigan Running Monday at Noon ET; Highlights from Sunday at Michigan
TC Daily Pit Stop: Monday, August 7th, 2023
The conclusion of Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan International Speedway has been pushed to Monday, August 7th at Noon ET, after the onslaught of inclement weather in the Brooklyn, Michigan area.
After the completion of the 74th lap, the caution was displayed for precipitation in the first set of corners, which eventually turned into a red flag. Despite several efforts to dry the two-mile facility, the rain was too much, forcing NASCAR to finish the final 124 laps of the race on Monday.
Coverage of the FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan International Speedway will resume on Monday, August 7th, at Noon ET on USA, MRN, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
Kyle Busch was the first driver to retire from Sunday’s FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan International Speedway, after losing control of his No. 8 Kwik Trip / Kwik Star Chevrolet Camaro after just 15 laps, spinning into the outside wall.
Chase Elliott’s hopes of making the NASCAR Cup Series post-season based on points is likely over, after a cut right-rear tire sent the No. 9 Chevrolet Camaro into the outside wall hard, ending the Hendrick Motorsports drivers afternoon.
After getting tapped at the last minute to compete in the No. 42 Chevrolet Camaro for LEGACY MOTOR CLUB, replacing the suspended Noah Gragson, Josh Berry gets to leave Michigan International Speedway a day earlier than everybody else, after backing the entry into the turn four wall.
Christopher Bell, polesitter of Sunday’s 400-mile contest, had just taken over the lead of the race from Alex Bowman, when heading into the first corner, the No. 20 Toyota Camry TRD broke loose and spun into the turn two wall.
Despite the damage to his entry, Bell was able to continue, although with a battered vehicle.
The NASCAR Cup Series FireKeepers 400 at Michigan was postponed to take place on Monday, August 7th, so the TV schedule is pretty cut-and-dry:
12:00 PM ET - NASCAR Cup Series Race at Michigan (USA, NBC Sports App)
