2024 NASCAR All-Star Race to Feature Multiple Tire Options; Format Announced
On Tuesday, NASCAR officially unveiled the format for the 2024 NASCAR All-Star Race at North Wilkesboro Speedway, but the star of the announcement was the fact that Goodyear will bring multiple tire compounds for the event. Teams will have the prime tire, which will be the baseline tire that has yellow lettering, and the option tire will be a slick tire made with the same rubber from the wet weather tire compound. This will be a softer tire with more grip, but faster wear than the prime tire.
Wet weather tires (white letters) will also be available in the event of moisture on the track.
The All-Star Race Main Event will be a 200-lap contest, where green flag and caution laps will count. NASCAR will throw two competition cautions (one at halfway, and one with 50 laps to go), where teams will have an option to pit.
