Christian Eckes Wins Weather Guard Truck Race at Bristol
Kyle Busch won the battle as he won Stages 1 and 2 of Saturday night’s NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Weather Guard Truck Race at Bristol Motor Speedway, but it was Christian Eckes who won the war.
Eckes led a race-high 144 laps, and the McAnally-Hilgemann Racing driver was able to hold off Busch in the closing laps to score his sixth career NASCAR Truck Series win. For Eckes, the win on Saturday was a big deal as it avenged his loss to Corey Heim last year at Bristol.
“There’s just so much behind this win from last year…losing the race with five to go, to come back and redeem ourselves was our number one goal,” Eckes said in his post-race interview on FS1.

Ryan Blaney Scores Food City 500 Pole; 10th Career Cup Series Pole
Ryan Blaney was just about flawless Saturday at Bristol Motor Speedway. The defending NASCAR Cup Series champion was fastest in single-lap speed in NASCAR Cup Series practice, he was fastest in 10-lap average, and he was fastest in the opening and second round of qualifying as he nabbed his 10th-career NASCAR Cup Series pole.
Blaney turned a lap time of 15.356 sec. in the final round of qualifying, which was just enough to top Rookie of the Year contender Josh Berry, who will start the Food City 500 from the outside of the front row.
