Dennis Hamlin, Father of NASCAR Star Denny Hamlin, Dies From Injuries Sustained in House Fire
On Monday evening, the Gaston County EMS confirmed the terribly sad news that Dennis Hamlin, the father of NASCAR Cup Series star Denny Hamlin, had passed away due to injuries sustained in a house fire on Sunday evening.
The patriarch of the Hamlin family was 75 years old.
The fire, which engulfed and destroyed the home where Hamlin’s parents resided, also led to “life-threatening” injuries to Hamlin’s mother, Mary Lou Hamlin. Hamlin’s mother was transported to the Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Burn Center in Winston-Salem, NC, where she continues to be treated as of Monday evening.
The cause of the fire has yet to be determined. The Gaston County Fire Marshal’s Office is conducting the investigation.
