Ryan Preece on Door Foam Fire: ‘Whatever Happened is Completely Unnecessary’
Ryan Preece and the No. 41 Stewart-Haas Racing team had been doing a great job of rebounding from a 35-point penalty sustained for a roof rail infraction at Atlanta Motor Speedway, but the progress was halted by a fire sparked from the door foam on the car early in Sunday’s race at Dover. Preece would finish dead-last in the 37-car field and would drop from 23rd in points to 28th.
“Whatever happened is completely unnecessary, and we can’t afford days like this,” Preece stated.
When pressed on what happened to cause the door foam fire, Preece responded with, “I’m not going to be the one to say what happened, but it wasn’t necessary. It could have been prevented.”

Prior to Sunday’s race at Dover, Larson announced on FS1’s RaceDay that Kevin Harvick will fill-in for him in the No. 5 car.
“We’ve been trying to find drivers and stuff to replace me in the seat for practice. We looked at lots of resumes, and unfortunately Clint [Bowyer]’s didn’t make the cut, so we decided to go with Kevin Harvick,” Larson stated.
