Cole Custer picked up the pieces twice in Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Portland. Once, when John Hunter Nemechek spun Sheldon Creed for the lead on the final Lap of Stage 2. Custer stayed in the gas and got around Nemechek for the Stage Win.
And then Custer broke through to victory lane after Parker Kligerman over-charged the chicane on a late-race restart, which bowled Justin Allgaier and Sheldon Creed out of the way, and provided a path for Custer to shoot into the lead.
Custer remained steady and had just enough to hold off Allgaier for his first win of the 2023 season.
Grant Enfinger was one of the best in the field in Saturday’s NASCAR Truck Series race at Gateway, however, it was clear that the race for the win was between Zane Smith and Ty Majeski. That is until Majeski overstepped and took out both him and Smith with just a few laps to go.
The incident handed the lead to Enfinger, and he capitalized by scoring his second win of the 2023 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season.
