Corey Heim Clinches 11th Win of 2025 in Playoff-Altering Overtime
Corey Heim continued his winning ways on Friday night at Martinsville Speedway. The TRICON Garage driver capped off a dominant night, where he won Stages 1 and 2, and led a race-high 77 laps by topping Kaden Honeycutt for the win by 0.451 seconds.
While Heim was already locked into the Championship 4 field prior to the Martinsville win, the remaining three drivers in the Championship 4 were solidified after a chaotic overtime finish.
The four drivers, who will battle for the championship next weekend at Phoenix Raceway, are Corey Heim, Kaden Honeycutt, Ty Majeski, and Tyler Ankrum.

Layne Riggs Would Have Been Upset Even If He Made Championship 4
While Layne Riggs was disappointed to be eliminated from Playoff contention in a points tiebreaker against Kaden Honeycutt in Friday’s Slim Jim 200 at Martinsville, the driver admitted that had he advanced to the Championship 4, he would have still been disappointed.
Why? The chaotic nature of the Playoffs forces drivers to plow people out of the way instead of using race craft to get around their competitors in the closing laps, in the name of ‘doing whatever you have to do’ to win a championship.
That’s not Riggs’ style, but he found himself doing what his team told him to do in the closing laps.
“Battling back there at the end, we thought that we were the tiebreaker winner, and I got told that we were in, and I was still just kind of upset,” Riggs admitted in a post-race media scrum on pit road. “Like I said, I don’t like how those races finish like that. You have to do what you have to do. That’s just not my kind of mentality, I don’t like doing that.”
