Corey Heim Survives NASCAR Overtime to Win at Texas
Corey Heim dominated as he led 96 of 174 laps on his path to his 14th career NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series win in Friday night’s SpeedyCash.com 250 at Texas Motor Speedway. However, despite having a more than 16-second lead, and having all but the top-six trucks lapped at one point, Heim found himself fighting tooth-and-nail for the win in a double-overtime finish.
“Man, I can’t believe how many restarts we got there in the end, but went into turn one pretty much in the worst possible position I could be in – three wide middle,” said Heim after the race. “I knew I was either going to win or wreck. I was willing to take that risk. We were really dominant in the race today, so I kind of laid it all out there. I knew the risk, but I wanted the reward.”
In the end, Heim would outduel Daniel Hemric and Rajah Caruth to win the race.

Gio Ruggiero, Kaden Honeycutt Collected in Vicious Crash at Texas
Rookie contender Gio Ruggiero misjudged the Texas Motor Speedway dogleg, clipped the infield grass, which was soggy from weather that had impacted activity on Friday. The excursion into the grass obliterated Ruggiero’s front end, and sent the driver shooting back across the track, where collected Kaden Honeycutt and Brandon Jones in an extremely hard crash.
