Coca-Cola to Serve as Primary Sponsor for Chase Elliott at Richmond
Chase Elliott will carry the iconic red and white colors of Coca-Cola this weekend in the Cook Out 400 at Richmond Raceway. Hendrick Motorsports revealed the new paint scheme for Elliott on Tuesday.
The No. 9 Hendrick Motorsports driver was originally scheduled to carry a Hooters paint scheme for this weekend’s race, but the race team and restaurant chain parted ways last month with one race left on its 2024 agreement.
Fast-casual restaurant chain Slim Chickens will be featured on the rear quarter-panels of the No. 9 Coca-Cola Chevrolet this weekend.

Travis Peterson Following Michael McDowell to Spire Motorsports No. 71
Travis Peterson will remain paired with Michael McDowell for years to come, as he will follow his current driver at Front Row Motorsports to Spire Motorsports on a multi-year agreement beginning in 2025.
“There are times when you meet people and you are immediately able to naturally communicate on a real level,” said Peterson of his relationship with McDowell. “I feel like we were that way from the start. We didn’t have to work at it. Our personalities, the way we openly communicate, and our honest nature helped us click from the start. We have no problem talking about hard stuff or easy stuff. We can be happy together when we win and be sad together when we lose. There is no red tape. We just work. It’s hard to recreate that. Staying together is a huge part in coming to Spire Motorsports for both of us. It’s hard to put a value on a driver/crew chief pairing, but there’s an intangible there. We just know it has been working, and if we can keep it going, we’re only going to get better over time. That’s what we’re chasing. We want to continue to grow and get better together.”
The addition of Peterson completely fills out the crew chief lineup for the Spire NASCAR Cup Series program next year as Rodney Childers will serve as the crew chief for the No. 7 car and Luke Lambert will reprise his role as the crew chief of the No. 77 machine.

Treyten Lapcevich Disqualified, Corey Heim Declared Winner of CARS Tour at North Wilkesboro
Nearly 72 hours after the conclusion of Saturday night’s zMAX CARS TOUR Window World 125 Late Model Stock event at North Wilkesboro Speedway, CARS Tour Officials announced a disqualification for race winner Treyten Lapcevich and his No. 77 Chad Bryant Racing team. The DQ for Lapcevich means Corey Heim, who finished second, is now considered the winner of the race.
CARS Tour states the DQ was due to an illegal part found on the No. 77 machine in post-race inspection, a claim that Lapcevich refuted on social media.
“On Saturday, the tech director shook our hands and congratulated us, and on Monday we received a call stating the potential of our disqualification due to something another competitor raised a concern about,” Lapcevich stated in a post on X. “I’m at the shop every single day working alongside these guys, and I know what has gone into this. The press release reads as though we misinterpreted the rules, but I will assure everyone that that is a lie.”
Lapcevich and his team will appeal the ruling from CARS Tour Officials… so stay tuned on this one.
