For the next two points-paying NASCAR Cup Series events, Austin Cindric and Team Penske will be without two of the team’s usual pit crew members, after a penalty was issued to the team following Sunday’s AdventHealth 400 at Kansas.
Keiston France and Patrick Gray will sit out NASCAR Cup Series events at Darlington Raceway and Charlotte Motor Speedway.
According to NASCAR’s Penalty Report, released on Tuesday, the No. 2 Ford Mustang was in violation of Sections 126.96.36.199.A & C of the NASCAR Cup Series Rule Book, which pertains to the loss or separation of an improperly installed tire/wheel from the vehicle.
Cindric, in his second full season in the NASCAR Cup Series with Team Penske, lost his right-front wheel on lap 109, which caused his Freightliner Ford Mustang to smack the outside wall with significant force.
Rick Ware Racing Celebrating Return of Ryan Newman with First Victory Throwback Scheme
One of the biggest storylines entering Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series Goodyear 400 at Darlington Raceway, is the return of 18-time winner Ryan Newman, after being away from the series for more than 18 months.
Newman, who last competed in the NASCAR Cup Series at Phoenix in November 2021, announced last week that he’d return to the series for a limited schedule of short-track races with Rick Ware Racing, starting at Darlington.
In the true spirit of Darlington Raceway’s ninth annual Throwback Weekend, not only has the two-car operation brought a NASCAR Cup Series winner back to the series, but will honor him with a throwback paint scheme.
